Common Types of Bearings
Did you think before about bearings? This word actually comes from the word “to bear”. Bearing belongs from the category of mechanicals and found one of the useful moving parts in machineries, even you may find them in your skateboards and electric motors. Bearings are based on friction that works along with fixed-axis surface with the help of moving balls or rollers somewhere. Different types of bearings may vary with their usages and functions. Some common types of bearings are:
Ball BearingsThis type of bearing is quite considered as one of the common. You may find them in hard drives and cycle’s rim. It has maximum friction to move a thing from here to there. Ball Bearings works when load implements from the outer side, the inner side works as a movement surface which pressure the object to move.
Roller BearingsRoller bearings can be defined as same as ball bearings from outer. These bearings have the different inner as compared to ball bearings. They are too much similar to the belt rollers and perform the same function to ball bearings. It belongs to the category of Rolling Element Bearings.
Needle Roller BearingsNeedle roller bearing has too large surface with needle long rollers at inner side. When race is implemented through outer, the inner of bearing replies with low friction.
Ball Thrust BearingsBall thrust bearings is the type of ball bearings which can’t afford as much load as others can. These bearings can be found in bar stools and revolving chairs.
Plain BearingsThis type of bearing usually works when it rubs through another body with the help of lubrication. These bearings may work same as fluid bearings.
Jewel BearingsThese bearings are mostly seen in the clocks and other products that require low speed by implementing the low level load. Jewel bearings require maintenance more to work fine.
Fluid BearingsFluid bearing is the common type of bearing where used where no friction required when we stop the bearing.
Slewing BearingsSlewing Bearings usually used in conventional cranes. This type of bearing used to perform operation without changing its pace.
Spherical BearingsSpherical bearing is used when the friction required from two alternate sections of bearings because it allows angular rotation. You may see these bearings on the shafts.
These are only few types of bearings which we used. These bearings made the industries stronger by its mechanical revolution.
